After breakfast, we head out on a 5 hour drive to the Londorossi Park Gate at 2,200m. After completing park formalities, we drive for a further 11km to the Lemosho Glades. From here, we trek about 3 hours to the camp site. overnight MTI MKUBWA CAMP
After breaking camp, we begin the hike up towards Shira Camp 1. located near a stream. We head through moorland shrub taking in view of Mt Meru in the distance. Overnight SHIRA 1 CAMP
Today we head out on a relatively easy day across the plateau that leads to Shira Camp 2 on moorland meadows by a stream. A variety of walks are available on the plateau making this an excellent acclimatization day. Overnight SHIRA 2 CAMP
After breakfast, you will quickly leave the moorland scrub behind and enter into a moonscape of semi-alpine desert, while you hike constantly upwards toward Lava Tower. At around 4,200m, you may start to feel the effects of altitude with shortness of breath and irritability, assuming it had not taken effect earlier on the climb. After Lava Tower , your route will head down by almost 680m to the Baranco camp. This is the day where you will follow the principle of climb high and sleep low. Overnight BARANCO CAMP
Extra day for acclimatization. You will Stay overnight at KARANGA VALLEY (3,950m) - (OPTIONAL- Extra Charge applicable)
The path climbs up steeply out of the Barranco Valley, crosses the turning North to reach BARAFU CAMP (15,500ft./4,600m.). Camp overnight.
A long day and an early start to reach the crater rim at Stella Point in time for sunrise. Then continue to Uhuru Peak (19,340ft./5,896m). The highest Point in Africa. Afterwards descend to Barafu and on down to MWEKA CAMP (10,300ft/3,100m). Camp overnight.
The day spent in descending down to Mweka Park Gate from where you will be transferred to/for overnight AMEG LODGE (Bed & breakfast)
